Kalbajar

Kalbajar locates in the centre of the Lesser Caucasus. The area of the region is 3050 km2, the population is 83200 (01.11.2011). The center is Khojavand city.

Kalbajar was occupied on April 2, 1993. As a result of the occupation 217 people were killed, 49 people were disabled. The number of internally displaced persons is 70574. 2 people of the region were awarded the title of National Hero of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
 
As the result of occupation 132 settlements and villages, 87 historical monuments, 29 industrial and construction facilities, 95 secondary schools, 107 health institutions, 214 cultural centers, 90 kindergartens were destroyed, burned and looted by Armenian invaders.
